Recipient of the

Charlie Love Memorial Award

Field of Study:

Agricultural Engineering; Instituto Profesional Duoc UC, Valparaiso

The 2024 classes were extremely important to me because they allowed me to gain key knowledge in various areas of agriculture and project management. I learned about business, project development, the workings of the Internal Revenue Service, climate change, beekeeping, and plant propagation. I also had the opportunity to deepen my understanding of minor fruit crop management, agricultural legislation, and the development of my final project. All of these experiences have been fundamental to my training as an Agricultural Engineer and to my future professional growth.

The knowledge I gained can benefit Rapa Nui in several key areas. Sustainable agriculture and beekeeping can strengthen food self-sufficiency and create new economic opportunities. Understanding climate change and agricultural legislation enables the promotion of conservation and sustainability practices on the island. Additionally, my training in project development and tax regulations allows me to support local entrepreneurs. Finally, my final project on seedling trays made from microplastics could inspire recycling initiatives and pollution mitigation efforts, contributing to the community’s sustainable development.
