"My name is Kiea Maripil Álvarez, and I am currently in my seventh semester of Graphic Design, a field I chose out of genuine vocation. From a young age, I have felt a strong connection to the arts, which led me to seek a path that truly motivates me and allows me to express my creativity in a meaningful way.
Graphic design has given me not only the space to explore my creativity, but also the understanding of its power as a tool for social and cultural impact. Through design, ideas can be communicated, awareness can be raised, and positive change can be created—values that are central to my professional development.
Looking ahead, my main goal is to contribute to the development of Rapa Nui by using graphic design to preserve and promote our cultural identity and to encourage environmental awareness. I am especially interested in creating visual projects that honor our history, traditions, and sacred sites, while also supporting sustainability and responsible ecotourism.
I aspire to work collaboratively with experts and members of the community, learning from their knowledge and contributing my own skills. I strongly believe that interdisciplinary collaboration can lead to meaningful and lasting benefits for the island and its people.
I sincerely appreciate the opportunity to apply for this scholarship, as receiving it would help me cover essential academic and personal expenses, allowing me to successfully complete my degree. This support would also represent significant relief and assistance for my parents, who have been a fundamental pillar throughout my education. Having this financial support would enable me to fully focus on my studies and continue preparing myself to contribute to the development and well-being of Rapa Nui."
