"My main motivation has always been to help children in schools with care, responsibility, and genuine commitment, especially protecting Rapa Nui children.Â
Two important courses I took in 2025 were Psychodiagnostics II and Praxis VIII. Psychodiagnostics was essential for my professional development because I learned how to assess children in a respectful and ethical way. During this course, I understood how to use psychological assessment tools with children, including the Rorschach test, allowing me to better interpret emotional processes, internal conflicts, and developmental characteristics.
Praxis VIII was especially meaningful because it was my first direct experience working with real patients. Through mirror room classes, I conducted intake interviews and initial clinical encounters. This experience helped me practice active listening, empathy, and professional responsibility, while learning how to build a safe and respectful space for patients from the very first meeting.
Many Rapa Nui children face vulnerability, emotional difficulties, or cultural displacement, especially in school on the island. Next year, while continuing my studies, I will complete my professional practice at a youth center called Corporación La Caleta, which focuses on supporting children and adolescents from vulnerable backgrounds. I hope this experience will help me gain the skills and confidence needed to later support Rapa Nui children, promoting their emotional wellbeing while honoring their cultural identity."
