The course "Specialty Project," also known as "Capstone," that I took this year in the second semester is one of the most important in my career, as it involves working on a real project for an active company alongside a group of at least 10 students. It is the first exposure to a real work situation, allowing us to gain experience and learn how to work in a development team with different responsibilities. We had to work on application design, database and user interface development, mobile app development, and the use of AI for business predictions, making it a fairly comprehensive and complex project. These skills can be used to create applications related to teaching the Rapa Nui language, websites for travel agencies, and any type of web application that may be needed.
On the other hand, the course "Information Visualization" is one of the few courses that allows us to think from the user's perspective. In this course, we learn how to properly present the data we want to display according to our target audience. We learn to use different types of graphs depending on the kind of data, and to correctly adjust the metrics and/or ranges used, as well as the use of colors and images. Finally, we are taught how to use dynamism and zoning in visualizations to tell a story with the represented data. These skills can be applied to infographics and/or various types of visualizations, whether for festivals, tourism, language teaching in classrooms, and more, to make learning more dynamic and personalized.
