Recipient of the

Fraternal Order of Moai Award

Field of Study:

Naval Engineering; Escuela Naval Arturo Prat

"My name is Cesar Ietu Quezada Tuki. I am of Rapa Nui origin and belong to the Miru clan. My great-grandparents are Elvira Pakarati Ika and Ricardo Tuki, and my grandmother is Gabriela Tuki Pakarati. I am currently twenty-five years old and in my fourth year of studies at one of the most prestigious institutions for training Naval professionals. My intention during this period and afterward is to be a motivator for the youth of my island, encouraging young people to take an interest in pursuing a career with cultural relevance, since we are, from our ethnic roots, a seafaring people and are naturally called to protect and safeguard the sea. I am currently the only Rapa Nui cadet at this prestigious institution, the Naval School Arturo Prat. Last year, during a visit to the island for rugby, I participated as part of the Naval School delegation, which gave me the opportunity to give a motivational talk at Liceo Aldea Educativa, the high school from which I graduated, with the aim of encouraging young people to study at this prestigious institution that trains naval officers to be excellent professionals, leaders who develop human capital, and who are ready to guide the Navy’s course with integrity and professionalism.

My aspirations upon completing my studies and becoming an officer in the Chilean Navy are to serve as an example and help open doors for young people, being, as much as possible, a pillar of inspiration."
